“Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition” – Marilyn Monroe
Happy International Women’s Day! There was a time when we really wished we were more masculine – more rational, logical, and physically strong. Blogging has helped us embrace the roots of why we love being women and why we love celebrating the uniqueness of other women we admire. We adore men as well, but no longer find their strengths better than our own! We were shooting a story at the Cantor Museum yesterday and ran into a friend who asked us candidly “What is is the goal of your blog?”. Our goal is to create a vehicle of inspiration that helps women express their different personalities and energies everyday. Unfortunately, feminine energy is often considered the less valuable of the two energies in western society, and often care of the feminine spirit is neglected. If you are a woman, honor yourself today with our simple tips and enjoy our take on what to wear to a luncheon with your bestie!
In the days when human beings lived in tribes of 50-100 or more, women had the freedom to be with each other and connect socially as a community everyday. In Western societies we now uphold autonomy and individuality so much so that we are living in very disconnected ways. Our advice is to surround yourself with lots of women a couple of times a week and let their energy inspire and uplift you! Spending intentional time with other women recharges your feminine energy in a big way because you are all giving and receiving support, wisdom and advice. Something amazing happens when you are exclusively with other women – it’s easier to drop your masks and be yourself, as you are.
Women often have the tendency to give too much. If you are the type that gives to others first and yourself last, it is time to take care of you and learn to receive! Schedule some pampering activities such as a massage, manicure, pedicure, facial or spa day. Create a candle-lit bubble bath. Dress up and take yourself out for a delicious meal and invite your BFF along! Make time for self-care regularly. If you don’t take care of yourself, your inner and outer vitality and health will take a toll!
We snapped today’s outfits on our way to a super fun girls only lunch, where we leisurely laughed over grass fed burgers, discussed ideas and emotions, reframed our theories through further discussion, and definitely raised our oxytocin and feminine energy!
Tell us – how do you celebrate your female essence?
Valentina’s look was inspired by one of her favorite feminine deities – the nymph! She takes elements of nature inspired patterns and colors, creating a figure-hugging silhouette, accessorised with the same exotic necklace Francesca chose for her look.
Francesca paired her favorite metallic leather mini skirt with a comfortable tee shirt. She added more feminine aspects to this look by adding a bright pink jacket and a gorgeous beaded necklace from India. Bright colors are always representative of the feminine essence, so even though she rocked some grey, adding the pink and red touches brought out her vibrant female power.
