Oh Milan Fashion Week! We are in love with you! We named our blog “Valentina and Francesca” in honor of our love and desire to be Italian women, and have enjoyed watching the Italian beauties rocking fearlessly rocking their creative sense of style during the shows this week. Inspired by our favorite Italian muses and designers, we shot this street chic editorial at the innovative Pace Art + Technology exhibition – a wonderful digital playground that you should definitely check out if you are in the Bay Area!
Milan always brings a playfully luxurious energy to the fashion pack— handbags in bold colors, wraps and stoles thrown effortlessly over coats and blouses, and pretty day dresses with fun patterns. We also have to mention how excited we are for the exquisite mash up of historical references, silhouettes and aesthetics pouring forth from Gucci and breaking new ground! High and low, sportswear and formal, historical, funky and futuristically modern – our fashion eye and mind is popping with Alessandro Michele’s innovative and wild version of the Gucci woman.
Tell us – who is your favorite Italian designer and why!?
Francesca channeled her Italian muse Vogue Japan’s editor at large Anna Dello Russo with a quintessentially fun meets over-the-top combination of flowy silk tropical shorts matched with a structured “Tokyo” cropped top. Anna always knows how to bring happiness and joy to fashion through her use of color, pattern, and her obvious exuberance for the creativity of clothes. So our biggest tip is wear your look with a smile – it can make the most crazy combinations come together with ease and fun!
“Accessorize me, color me, shock me” – Anna Dello Russo
Valentina chose to rock an easy-breezy look while matching the color of the concrete jungle surrounding her. The look shouts comfort, while emphasising the female form – something Valentina loves to embrace. There is something empowering about celebrating the femininity within us, through our personal style – that’s one thing the Italian Girl doesn’t shy away from, and we thank her for it!
“Fashion is a muse, you must seduce her” – Anna Dello Russo
“Because of my job, I look for photogenic accents. I know what looks good in a picture. That’s why I don’t usually wear black because it can look very dark. I try to dress myself like I’m in an editorial. I ask myself if it will look good in a picture and if it will be good to collect.” – Anna Dello Russo
