Is the force strong within you? We love drawing inspiration from the imagination and rich aesthetics of Star Wars and always find recurring sources of inspiration from each new film that is released. A lot of our favorite designer inspiration comes from a galaxy far, far, away. In honor of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, here are two of our favorite ways to use the force of fashion to achieve a day to night look that will be perfect in a Galaxy far, far away!
Francesca channeled the villainous dark side by borrowing inspiration from the sleek, stylized armor of the Storm Troopers. She paired a structural white dress with tough motorcycle inspired Chanel boots – perfect for fighting battles in a Galaxy far far away. With strong, bold brows and golden eyeshadow this is a fierce look that can be translated into both day and night if you want to feel powerful and stand out!
Valentina transformed into female heroine Rey – the essence of a feminine fighter, wearing an outfit that is beautiful with an urban, tomboy edge. Dressing in a flowing wrapped Hermes scarf and long maxi skirt that had both Japanese elements and an ancient toga-esque element. This look pays homage to Star Wars: A New Hope, where the Jedi were fashioned after feudal samurai, reflected in the kimono-like garments and flowing robes. The more neutral toned, draped look of Rey’s outfits in The Force Awakens are very similar to current designers like Rick Owens, Alexander Wang and Yohji Yamamoto.
We love celebrating the distinctive synergy between fashion and film, especially during exceptional moments in pop culture like the release of The Force Awakens. Whether you want to play with the dark side or stay in the light, have fun experimenting with futuristic metallic leather, modern abstracted jewelry, flowing fabrics, and tough structured pieces.
