Have you ever noticed how hard it is to pretend to be someone you are not?
Recently we have been a bit envious of the beautiful, clean, minimalist styling that is so popular among various bloggers, and were inspired to try our take on a winter, minimalist style. YES, we thought, of course we are capable of wearing a simple monochrome tones of grey and making it look effortlessly chic, cool and engaging. Fast forward several days, and we found ourselves dancing around Palo Alto in much more eclectic, complex, daytime winter outfits. Lesson learned: we like to shine BRIGHT in winter! We transformed our perceptions of ‘minimal’ into a layered theme of blues and silvers. Second lesson learned: follow your gut instinct, it feels SO good to be true to yourself! Even if you love a trend on someone else, you won’t feel a sense of confidence unless you style it to fit your own unique blueprint. It is with privilege and satisfaction in being grounded in our unique vision that we present this editorial to you.
Valentina was inspired by the idea of wintery white landscapes, dazzling ice skating costumes, and Karl Lagerfeld’s classic fingerless leather gloves. She paired a delicious blue velvet skirt with a cozy kind sweater for contrast and warmth. She added a stunning Polar Bear necklace to complete the look, along with the striking white leather fingerless gloves – which give that hint of Lagerfeld mystery and pizzaz.
Pajamas on the town? Yeah, it’s basically our dream. Francesca was inspired by the fashion-forward women like Grace Coddington and Jenna Lyons who wore formal PJ apparel to this year’s Met Gala. Francesca loved the idea of making PJs a decadent daytime look and mixing luscious pajama silks with layered leather. Francesca’s pajama-inspired silky trousers are much more interesting than a pair of jeans. The ease of the silhouette – a nonchalant kind of slouch – feels so fresh, a chic way to look relaxed and also dressed up. Paired with the masculine lines of an elegant grey coat and tougher suede ankle boots, this look becomes very work friendly. Francesca couldn’t help but add some sparkling holiday cheer with a teal sequined Trina Turk scarf!
