Are you intrigued by color, but unsure of how to make use of it? Take a bold plunge and incorporate color into your Fall and Winter wardrobe for a sense of freedom and child-like delight!
We love the freedom that children have with color and are sad that as adults monochromatic greys and blacks often become a staple when the weather gets chilly. We are usually taught by the fashion elite how to tone down and balance brights with neutrals, and not let bold colors overwhelm. The result is a large group of adults terrified of lively colors and hiding in black on black all winter long. We set our playfully colorful story against the alluring backdrop of a wonderful playground in Palo Alto’s Mitchell Park called The Magical Bridge – to remember what it is like to be child who is not limited by the boundaries of rules.
Valentina donned her favorite color-blocked look – a hot pink mini skirt against red tights, colorful sneakers for comfort and fun, and a dynamic robot collaged clutch. This outfit reminded Valentina of being a happy go lucky, spirited child of the 80s – running around the playground at top speed in colorful tights with colorful patterned accessories.
Francesca also took inspiration for the epic shoulder pad jackets of the 80s – mixing bold-colored solids together with her vintage jacket – a more singular piece pre-loaded with embroidery, stripes, grids, and saturated hues jumbled together. This outfit exudes a certain vibrant playfulness that we want to express, but at the same time it has a combined strength and sharpness.
Dressing for your inner child is brave and courageous and doesn’t come naturally to us all. It is, however, immensely freeing to embrace fashion for its potential for fun! Just like the Magical Bridge Playground, fashion is a place where we can all play!
