We headed to the Marina for our second 007 inspired shoot – with epic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz – the perfect setting for a Bond shoot or of fashion editorial set in San Francisco.
Valentina took inspiration from Bond’s main squeeze Madeleine Swann – the ultimate modern Bond girl—rather than turning to the formula of plunging necklines and catsuits as other Bond bombshells before her, Dr Swan showcases her allure with a subtlety that slyly smolders and highlights her intelligence and verve. Swann is a psychiatrist working at an Alpine clinic, and also the daughter of Bond’s enemy from the previous Daniel Craig films: Mr White, a mysterious high-ranking member of the organization Quantum. Played by gorgeous French actress Léa Seydoux, Madeleine Swann holds her own against Bond the entire film – she is his equal in an authentic, distinctive way.
Valentina embodied Dr. Swann with a twist on the classic trench coat – a British staple. As much of an icon as the trench coat she wears, Madeleine Swann is the perfect example of unfailingly elegant style. The trench coat is a chic, sophisticated and versatile addition to your wardrobe and we hope to see more trench coats appearing in Silicon Valley to compliment the California winter!
Francesca grew up watching old Bond films like Thunderball and You Only Live Twice, and was inspired by the undone Bond on a mission- when he is out of his tux and scaling new heights or stealthily disarming a submarine. Scuba chic was the nautical theme for this version of Bond, and Francesca achieved this minimal, sleek look by layering an H&M sport lux vest over a long sleeved sporty top and black tights. We love this futuristic, sporty, sexy, wet-suit esq look. We recorded looking for pieces incorporating neoprene because it supports architectural accents and voluminous skirt shapes. It looks sophisticated, athletic and is normally soft, lightweight and sporty. This material is great for creating high tech, futuristic surf-influenced, figure-flattering outfit.
